Making Northumberland the First Choice for Active and Adventure Tourism

Much of Northumberland's tourism sector relies on 'active' holidays, such as hiking, biking, watersports and extreme experiences. 

This series of workshops will work to develop Northumberland as the first-choice destination for activity holidays, in competition to the Lake District, Yorkshire and Scottish Borders. 

The first workshop will be held on 13th September at The Rivergreen Centre, Stannington
 
Over the course of the workshop you will learn about:

  • Mapping existing key locations and resources

  • Finding gaps in provision and what customers need 

    • Transport

    • Facilities

    • Joined up services

    • Lack of services

    • Lack of information

  • What difficulties your customers face

  • What a dream trip would look like

  • What is working in other areas

  • What can the region do to improve services

  • What can individual locations do to improve offering

  • How to reach potential customers

  • How to communicate effectively with potential customers

  • Inclusivity
